Priced at $1.575 million

Curb appeal does not come close to describing this stunning home, one of the most unique and beautiful houses in Great Falls. Cars pull over to take a second look at this gorgeous renovated barn and silo, once a part of Hickory Vale Farm, now an upscale neighborhood close to the Village Center. Once you enter through the front door it will be obvious how the owners spared no expense in lovingly renovating this historic home.

From the whimsical farm-themed foyer to the beautiful light-filled living room to the gourmet kitchen to the spectacular over-sized family room with overlooking master balcony you will be surprised at every turn in this home.

The glass front door gives you a peek into the foyer, which is adorned with a hand painted mural reflecting the era of the home. A large dining room is just steps ahead, and it offers a view out onto the Brazilian Ipe deck, stone patio and professional landscaping of the backyard. The living room is filled with natural light from the windows in both the back and front of the house, and the natural stone fireplace showcases the beauty of this room. You’ll want to entertain once you see the gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances and warm wood cabinets, and the spectacular family room addition with 22 foot ceilings. A powder room on this level was redone to reflect the home’s history. The garage is conveniently located just a few steps away through a covered walkway.

On the second floor of this home you’ll find a guest suite with attached bath along with 4 other bedrooms. The master bedroom has a balcony that overlooks the grand family room below. But one of the most unique rooms in this home is the master bath on the second floor of the silo. A hammered copper tub sits on a pedestal like a gorgeous piece of artwork as you enter the bathroom. A hand painted domed ceiling as well as beautiful cabinetry and tile make this bathroom a show-stopper. Walk across a ‘bridge’ to a separate living area that would be perfect for in-laws, teenagers or a live-in housekeeper. Here you will find a large family room/exercise room and a bedroom with full modern bath, which are accessible from the three-car garage below.

Main Level

I would like to welcome our newest addition to the Bob Nelson Team, Kelly Putz. She has joined us to help market current listings, develop our advertising and work with buyers. Kelly is the only one on the team licensed in all three of the DC Metro areas. With her assistance, the Bob Nelson Team will be able to home buying/selling needs wherever they may be.

Kelly’s Bio:

I am a transplant from Elvis’s birthplace, Tupelo, Mississippi, but I have always been fascinated with the DC area ever since I first visited on a school trip in grade school. I finally made the move here in 2000 and fell in love.

I have been a professional photographer since 1989, graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1993. I worked as a photojournalist and editor for several Mississippi newspapers and the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, before moving to DC to work on Capitol Hill. There I worked as database manager and photographer for the U.S. Senate Photographic Studio, working with all 100 Senate offices, the Sergeant at Arms and Secretary of the Senate. In 2008, I made a move to the U.S. House Committee on Energy & Commerce as their official committee photographer and web manager under Chairman John Dingell. Through my photography I developed an intimate relationship with the details of the city, researching the layout and neighborhoods of this history-filled metropolis and all its surrounding areas.

In 2005 I began working in the real estate field as an assistant to Realtor®, and in 2009 I finally jumped in, feet-first, when I became a licensed Realtor® in DC, Maryland and Virginia and I left Capitol Hill. I still maintain my Hill contacts, though, and my husband also works for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

I made the decision to become licensed in all areas of Metro DC because I did not want to ever have to say, “No, I can’t help you,” to anyone looking for a home. There are so many differing and varying opportunities for home purchases in all three areas that I have worked with every level of home buying, from a $35,000 condo to multi-million dollar properties and have done sales everywhere stretching from Stafford County, Virginia, to Frederick County, Maryland. I get asked a lot, “Don’t you mind driving so far?” Well, growing up in Mississippi where everything is so spread out, you just get used to driving long distances to get to places. So, a 90 mile drive, one-way, is nothing to me!

I specialize in First-Time Homebuyers, and teach free seminars to educate both those who are buying for the first time, as well as update those who have been out of the market for a long time. My degrees and my work in journalism, design and politics have given me an eye for detail that I use to my client’s benefit in helping to stage homes and prepare them for sale. I also have a strong determination to advocate for my clients at the bargaining table.

Being a country girl at heart, I live in the village of Knoxville, MD at the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers with my husband Scott and our little girls, Cameron and Shelby. But, still drawn to the excitement of our nation’s capitol, I happily commute to all areas of Metro DC, as well as the counties of Prince Georges, Montgomery, Howard, Frederick, Fairfax, Loudoun, Stafford and Prince William for my clients. My photography can be viewed at: www.KellyPutzPhotography.com

MAM Holding a Special August Dinner to Show Support to the Navy SEAL Families.

Please join Nancy and me on August 29th for a special running of our Military Appreciation Mondays dinner where we will be hosting the Navy SEAL Foundation. As most of you know, we normally take August and July off due to summer vacations but felt it was important that the community step up and let not only the SEALS but all our servicemen and women know just how much we care. We are doing in response to the losses to the SEAL family on August 6th.

We are asking everyone to make a reservation sooner rather than later since we would like to fill our room at the Old Brogue to capacity. Just call (703) 759-3309 and let them know if you would like to attend the 5:30 or the 7:30 seating. Once you have made a reservation, please drop me an email and let me know you are attending. If we exceed the Brogue’s capacity, I will make arrangement for other seating.

For those of you unfamiliar with how MAM works, you simply come out and enjoy a great dinner at the Old Brogue in Great Falls. My co-sponsors and I will each make a 10% match of your dinner tab. (As of this writing, a total match of approximately 80 percent.) When we last did a MAM event for the Navy SEAL Foundation, we had a match of 160 percent. Please let us know if you might be willing to step forward and volunteer to be a cosponsor for this month. We will be doing two seatings at the Old Brogue, so make your reservation for either 5:30 or 7:30. Again, to make a reservation call the Brogue at (703) 759-3309. All you need to do is pick up the phone, make a reservation and come enjoy a great dinner. We will also be doing door prize drawings and will certainly welcome any items you might like to donate for the drawing.

I can assure you that it will mean a great deal to the Navy SEALS and their families. We would love to see a room full of faces who recognize the sacrifices our nation’s TRUE HEROES are asked to make each and every day. Do come join us in sending the message that we truly care. Feel free to drop an e-mail or give a call if you can’t make it out for dinner, but would like to make a donation.

Please join Nancy and me for the March 28th Military Appreciation Mondays dinner. We are taking a little license by hosting this month’s event in support of the CIA Officer Memorial Foundation. Having raised over $100,000 during the past two years, we determined that it was time to support an organization that is very close to home. As I said at last month’s dinner, this one is personal. Do come out and show your support for the families of those CIA officers who have given their lives in support of our nation. Because of operational security reasons, many of these individuals will never get the recognition they deserve and their families can never say how they died. They will forever be remembered as stars on the wall. We are asking everyone to make a reservation sooner rather than later since we would like to fill the Old Brogue to capacity.

For those of you unfamiliar with how MAM works, you simply come out and enjoy a great dinner at the Old Brogue in Great Falls. We and our co-sponsors will each make a 10% match of your dinner tab. (We are always seeking new sponsors.) Last month we had a 110% match of the total restaurant receipts at the Old Brogue. We will be doing two seatings at the Old Brogue, so make your reservation for either 5:30 or 7:30. To make a reservation call the Brogue at (703) 759-3309.

I can assure you that it will mean a great deal to myself and my former colleagues to see a room full of faces who recognize the risks they take each and every day. Do come join us in sending the message that we truly care. All you need to do is pick up the phone, make a reservation and come enjoy a great dinner. Please share the attached flyer with anyone who may be interested in attending.

Nancy and I would like to thank those of you who came out for the last MAM dinner. We also wanted to share with you that this event in support of the Navy SEAL Foundation was our best yet. While attendance did not quite match that of the Injured Marines Semper Fi Fund dinner, we topped the $5000 mark for the first time in money actually raised.

We hope that those of you who came for the first time enjoyed the dinner and its format. Our main objective is to keep it low key and simply let our servicemen and women know how much we care. Please be sure to mark February 28th on your calendars for the next event. As you heard on Monday, we will be raising funds for the Georgetown Visitation Support Our Troops program which sends “We Care Packages” to the guys on the front line in Afghanistan. We are trying something new this month with a second dinner taking place at Mylos Restaurant at the Chesterbrook Shopping Center in Mclean. This dinner will be hosted by George Lodge, a fellow Keller Williams
REALTOR. Moving one step closer to my long term ambition of having several dinners taking place concurrently.

As always a big thanks to our co-sponsors:
