Bob Nelson
During one of the most challenging real estate markets in many years, I have been able to build a thriving business when others were struggling to earn just a basic living. My approach has always been centered on a client first philosophy, treating my clients as more than just ‘transactions’. After only my second full year as a realtor, I achieved my former company’s Chairman’s Club level with almost $10 million in sales. Previous to my real estate career, I spent 26 years with the foreign service, working around the world. Living in 17 different homes (four states and four foreign countries) during my 35 year marriage, I have become a TRUE relocation specialist. What better way to appreciate the importance of helping a family move into a new area and settle in quickly! I particularly enjoy working with clients who are coming from outside the region to live and work in the Washington, D.C. area. One former client was the local Fox morning news anchor. I found he and his family a beautiful home in a lovely neighborhood. I am proud to say that during an on-air interview in which the real estate industry was being attacked, he commented that his realtor worked extremely hard and deserved what he earned.
Since switching the Bob Nelson Team to Keller Williams Realty, we have grown to now include four full time realtors, with back-up support from four loan officers, a solid home inspection group, two real estate settlement companies, a real estate attorney and numerous other ancillary support professionals.
My previous work experiences have included not only the U.S. Foreign Service, but several years spent teaching and also working in the construction field. I’ve built four homes, and done extensive renovations to each of my own homes. These experiences have certainly been an asset as I help my clients understand the quality of the homes they are considering buying and the neighborhoods in which they plan to live.
As an active member of the Great Falls Community for over 25 years:
I have coached every sport from T-ball to high school wrestling as my two sons grew up here in Great Falls.
I am a proud sponsor of the Great Falls Summer Concert on the Green Series.
I recently initiated a Great Falls based Business to Business Networking Group which has been growing with each subsequent meeting.
I am most proud of my “MILITARY APPRECIATION MONDAYS” fundraising efforts on behalf of our servicemen and women. Begun a little over a year ago, these events have grown from 8 attendees to over 125 attendees and raising about $50 at the first event, to a high of $4,600 raised for the “Lift Me Up” therapeutic horseback riding program for injured veterans.

Tim Heil
A native of upstate New York and a long time resident of the Boston, MA area, I came to Great Falls in the spring of 1998 while still employed as a National Sales Manager for Lucent Technologies. After retiring from Lucent in 2001, I began work as a teacher in the Fairfax County school system teaching Civics and History at the middle and high school levels. I also was a Lacrosse coach for 4 years at Langley High school.
In 2008, I started my new career in real estate and have sold homes throughout Fairfax County and as far south as Stafford County. I specialize in single-family detached homes and townhouses. This former teacher truly enjoys assisting first time homebuyers with: (a.) The home selection and contract process (b.) Helping them understand the complexities of obtaining a mortgage and (c.) Ultimately guiding them through myriad details leading to a successful home settlement. As a member of the Bob Nelson Team, I take particular pride in helping our servicemen and women in their need to find both short-term and permanent homes in the northern Virginia region. We all feel privileged to provide any and all assistance to the members of the U.S. armed services.
I have recently gained certification in selling “distressed properties” and I would be glad to assist anyone who might be contemplating buying or selling a home under a Short Sale arrangement.
On the personal side, I live in Great Falls with my wife Susan, who is a director at Ernst and Young LLC located in Tysons Corner and I have two children, Lily and Gordon. Both children went through the Fairfax County School System and are now attending James Madison University and the University of Mary Washington, respectively. We are members of St. Francis church in Great Falls and our family continues to maintain an active role in the northern Virginia community.
After working for another real estate firm for some time, I joined the Bob Nelson Team at Keller Williams Realty in August of 2009. I made this switch with the firm belief that this will enable me to best serve the interest of all my current and prospective clients. Please feel free to contact me and learn how the Bob Nelson Team difference will make your real estate transactions a pleasurable experience. And Oh by the Way… we are never too busy for your referrals.
